Working Equitation

A Working Equitation class in Equipe has up to three tests: dressage, ease of handling and speed. Each test has its own tab in the result registration, its own judges, its own result list and its own marking sheet. On top sits a total tab that counts placing points, and the results stream live to online.equipe.com test by test.

The class itself decides which tests it has:

So a class can be ease of handling only (for example a clear round class), ease of handling and speed, dressage and ease of handling, or all three. For a class without dressage, simply leave the judgement empty.

On the General tab of the class you pick the dressage test under Judgement, just like in a regular dressage class. That is the class's dressage test.

The fences are entered on the Working Equitation tab according to the course plan, ease of handling on the left and speed on the right. The numbers do not have to be consecutive, so a fence that is not part of the class is simply removed. Press Enter to add new rows and Shift + Backspace to remove. The copy and paste buttons move a whole fence list in one go, for example from ease of handling to speed or from another class.

Below the fence lists there are two settings. Collective mark points out the marking sheet the collective marks for ease of handling are taken from. Enter speed with ease of handling adds the speed fields at the bottom of the ease of handling sheet, so the judge's secretary can enter the speed result without leaving the sheet. It is on by default on new classes.

The judges are entered on the Dressage judges tab. Several judges can share the same letter, and in the menu next to the name you choose which test the person judges. The choice controls which names show up in the registration, which sheets the judge gets when printing and what the judge's secretary sees in the judge side registration. A judge without a choice judges every test.

The Actions menu on the sheet follows the judge at C, so keep the C position filled in every test.

The result view has one tab per test plus the Total tab. Each test is sorted on its own result only, is approved on its own and locks per judge and test. The scores are calculated and sent to online the moment they are saved, no matter which test is running.

Dressage and ease of handling are entered as marking sheets, mark by mark with the arrow keys or Enter. At the bottom the test is summed up and approved with Save.

Statuses are set per test in the Actions menu: Eliminated, Disqualified, Retired, No-show, Withdrawn and Reset. The tests are independent in Working Equitation, so a combination that is eliminated in ease of handling still starts the speed. The test with a status gives 0 placing points and the other tests are not affected.

With Enter speed with ease of handling turned on, the fields Penalty, Ride time and Bonus sit at the bottom of the ease of handling sheet, in the same order as on the speed tab. What is entered there is saved to the speed test. The time can be typed as seconds or as minutes and seconds, 1:31.20 becomes 91.20 when you leave the field. The Penalty field also understands the status codes 999 for eliminated, 998 for disqualified, 666 for retired and 555 for did not start.

Speed is entered like a jumping class with penalty seconds, ride time and bonus. A knocked fence part adds time, 10 seconds according to the rules, and the seconds can be changed under Time allowed. Skewering the ring with the pole gives a bonus of 5 or 10 seconds which is deducted from the time. The list is sorted on the total time.

You reach the events with the arrow next to the Penalty field or with the function keys, for example Knock down on F4 and Add time on F2.

The Total tab shows the standing of the class. Each test gives placing points: in a class with nine or fewer starters the winner of a test gets 10 points, second place 8, third 7 and so on. With more than nine starters the points are based on the number of starters instead. A test with a status gives 0 points, and to be placed in the total the combination must have completed every test. On equal total points the combination with the most points in ease of handling is placed first.

The standing is calculated continuously from the latest ridden test, just like in eventing. The speaker blocks at the top show the previous combination, the one on course and the next in line, with the test results and the current total standing. So the speaker sees right away when the lead changes hands.

In the judge side registration on app.equipe.com/secretary every judged test is its own entry, and the judge's secretary only sees the tests the judge is chosen for. The ease of handling judge's sheet has the speed fields when the setting is on, so ease of handling and speed can be entered back to back without switching views.

The marking sheets are printed per test, and only the test's judges appear on the sheet with their signature line. In the print dialog you choose tests under Sheets. Speed gets its own sheet with the fence rows, time and bonus for the steward at the arena.

The judge handover after the show contains one sheet per test and combination, and the rider's email collects all tests in one document.

The marks stream to online point by point while the judge is judging, in every test. The class shows as running as soon as the first test result comes in. The result list shows percent and placing points per test together with the total, and statuses show as EL, RET, DSQ and WD.

Clicking a combination shows a filled in marking sheet for each test, the dressage on its own and the ease of handling on its own.

Team results are also counted per test, see Lagtävling i working equitation (in Swedish). For championships and other competitions inside the competition there are the score summary sources WE Dressage %, WE EoH %, WE Dressage + EoH % and WE Speed time.
