October was a month for the people at the table. Judges and scribes in paperless can now jump straight to any rider, hors concours finally shows on a printed list, and the marking sheet a rider gets by email ends with the totals. Team competitions came up in support again, so there are more fixes there. And on online.equipe.com you can now pick out the shows that are running right now.
Four things got their own post this month: A new look for entry.equipe.com, A faster way to set individual marking sheets, Groups for team dressage: the best results per day and Equipe is not affected by the PHP security issue.
🏆 New features
Jump to any rider in paperless judging (App)
At national shows riders often come early or late. The arrows on the paperless scoring page are fine for a step or two, but not for going back ten starts. Now you click the rider's name, or press Ctrl+J, and you get every start in the competition with number, time, rider and horse, and your own score and rank. Type a number or a name to find a start and press Enter to go there.
Starts you marked as withdrawn or no-show stay in the list with their status, and the arrows step through them too. Before, they dropped out after a reload and the arrows jumped back to the first start.
Hors concours you can see on paper (App)
A hors concours start was only tinted grey, and on a laser printer that is almost impossible to see. It now gets an HC badge after the rider's name on printed start and result lists, on the jumping scoresheet and scorecards, in result registration for every discipline and in paperless judging. The row itself prints in black like the others.
Totals at the end of the marking sheet (App)
The marking sheet PDF from paperless judging, the one riders get by email, now ends with a totals table. There is a row per judge with the percentage for each section and the total, and with a panel, the result. A sheet scored in points adds up its points instead. The PDF is also written in the language of the marking sheet, not in the language of whoever sends it.
Random sort keeps the horses' age order (App)
Young horse classes often run one born year at a time, for example all the 7 year olds and then all the 8 year olds. When Equipe sees a start list set up like that, the randomize dialog now has Keep horse age order ticked. The draw keeps each born year in its own block, in the same order, and a break between two ages stays between them. Before, a random sort mixed the ages, and the 10 minute break before the 8 year olds could end up in the middle of the 7 year olds.
The draw is also faster. A class of 57 took 7 to 9 seconds and now takes less than one.
Live now on online.equipe.com (Online)
Next to Country and Discipline there is a Live now button. It shows only the shows that have a competition going on today, each with the red Live badge. It goes by each show's own time zone, so a show in Australia counts even while it is still the day before in Europe.
Match horses by chip number in score summaries (Online)
In a young horse series several horses can have the same name. A score summary on online.equipe.com can now match horses by chip number, so each horse is added up on its own across the shows. The chip number comes with the publish from Equipe and is never shown on the site. A horse without a chip gets a row of its own, and the source tells you which horses are missing one.
Arena limits for lists and extras (Entry)
The arena limit used to work for competitions only. It now works for lists and extras too, which helps when you only have so many stables to sell.
✨ Improvements
Team competitions
- The team's diff against the optimum time adds up the riders' diffs. It used to take the team's total time against one time allowed, so a team showed 137.66 where its riders' diffs added up to 5.56. Teams level on faults are now ranked on it.
- The jump-off of an administrative team competition is ridden in the order of the first round. It followed the team competition's own order, which only matches the class when the start list is sorted by team. When the class was drawn on its own, the jump-off came out in an order nobody chose, and that is what online showed.
- An administrative team competition adds up its teams again when you change the judgement or the team settings. The teams kept their old sums.
- Online shows which competition each team member rides in, with a link to the member's row there.
- A team on a score summary keeps its members when the summary is recalculated. A member whose horse had no result yet was removed.
- Both teams get their new total when a dressage page saves two starts at once. Only one of them was recalculated, so a team could keep its old total online until its next result.
Unified start lists
- Each start runs at its own competition's time per start, and the end time follows the last start. Every start ran at the time per start of the first competition.
- Regrouping no longer leaves anyone on a list that is gone. The timekeeper's page, scoreboards, the schedule and judge devices follow the new groups, without stopping the clock.
- A start can be repositioned among every start of the unified list, and take a withdrawn place anywhere in it. Before, it could only move among the starts of its own competition.
- Marking sheets can be printed from the unified start list, and the blank sheets are one of each marking sheet its riders ride.
- Closing a class to young horses moves its section B starts to section A, so the class is no longer listed twice in the unified start list.
Publishing to online
- Every publish carries the competition settings. A test chosen after the results were published never reached online, so the protocol points were missing there. Links, embeds and hide class number also only came along with a publish by hand. A judge alias you remove is now removed online too.
- Uploads to online are faster. Online now skips marking sheets, jumping settings and team members that have not changed, and does much less work per start. An upload where nothing changed takes about a third of the time it did.
App
- Check start times counts riders, not starts. It said 106 participants for the 106 starts of 15 riders. Now it says 15 riders, or horses or groups when you check those.
- Search pages put the cursor in the first field, so you can search a horse by FEI ID without reaching for the mouse. With a single result, Enter picks it.
- Printed start lists. A break added in a later round shows on that round's list. The round two list of a nations cup no longer has jump-off columns, while an individual competition keeps them on the first round list, where the judge writes the jump-off.
- The live stream arena under Publish online, Advanced is picked with a search box, and the arenas come in their set order.
- Horse names. More rules when a name is cleaned up: "van 't" keeps its lower case t, OLD stays in capitals at the end, "I'm" and "C'est" are written as such, and xx and ox as pedigrees write them.
- New timekeeping sound and display. A double strike bell, the bell many shows in Australia ring, and the TAG Heuer HL980 display as an output.
- An organizer without a federation can give its users access to the entry system.
- The person header shows the company when the person has no club.
- The federation search no longer mixes up shows. A search in one show could send the searches in the next show to the wrong federation.
Online
- Push notifications arrive faster and messages that come close together are put in one push.
- A horse's page and the start page show the same line as the start list: sex, breed, colour, year and sire x dam sire. The breed was missing there.
- A score summary of horses only reads like one with riders, without an empty line between each horse and its details. The score summary form is also in your language now.
- The app asks for an App Store rating at most once a year. Some of you saw it several times a minute, even after rating. Sorry about that.
- Logos and files load in Spain during football matches. The address we served them from was blocked there while big matches were on, so visitors in Spain lost logos, course plans and other files. For them, these now come from online.equipe.com itself.
Entry
- The start page lists the shows in one list by date, and an organizer's page has tabs for upcoming and past shows.
- Shows can be found with search engines, and each show's page has the show's name as its title.
- Breed suggests studbooks. You see the name, and the code is what gets saved.
- Entry times are shown in the show's own time zone everywhere.
- The Edit button on an entry is filled and pulses, so riders find it.
- Searching horses from the entry system in Equipe fills the Owner column, and the licence and born year filters work.
- The entries overview per competition shows the competition number.
🐛 Bug fixes
- The time allowed calculator takes any speed. A speed like 461 m/min was not on the 5 or 25 step, and the browser refused to save the competition without saying why.
- An import from the entry system no longer ticks change competition name on every competition, and the name follows a change of test again.
- Two style saves at the same moment in eventing no longer fail.
- A menu near the bottom of a tall dialog no longer throws the dialog back to the top.
- The mapping tab of the CSV import gave a page not found. It works again.
- Apply in the scene editor blanked the director and took the scoreboard page down. That is fixed.
- Print buttons say Print again. For a few days they showed only the icon.
- Entry. An entry keeps its horse and rider when the payer removes them from their profile.
- Online. A message about a start list the show office has removed opens a not found page in the app instead of "Something went wrong". An email address with a one letter ending, like hotmail.c, is now called wrong instead of being told the code is on its way. The Marking Sheet menu of the last competition in an arena is no longer cut off.
- Logos. Photoshop files saved under another file type, and BMPs with an empty alpha channel, now show.
📋 Federations
- Working equitation ranks by the federation's rules. A federation sets the minimum starts counted for rank points and the order of the trials that break a tie, on its regulation tab. The default is the WAWE rules, and international competitions always use them.
- Working equitation results are part of the federation export. The export sent the discipline without results.
- Points on marking sheets. A federation can choose to show each section's points, deductions included, next to its percentage on the marking sheet PDF.
💬 What we're hearing
We read every question that comes in. This month four topics stood out.
- Team competitions, again. Teams over two days, a team points jumping class that dropped the wrong rider, the order of a team jump-off and team score summaries. Most of the team fixes above came straight from those questions, and so did the new input for groups. The Swedish guide Lagtävling i dressyr was rewritten.
- A different judge for horses and ponies. Several of you asked how to split a class by category so one judge takes the horses and another the ponies. Splitting works. Hide the empty classes in the timetable instead of deleting them, and keep in mind that late entries land in the original class.
- Sending results again after a correction. You can export the results again. Also tell your federation or district which file is the right one.
- Paperless judging. How to sign after the show, and how to change a signed sheet. A judge who forgot to sign can still do it: open the result again in result registration and send the judge the signing link. A question about protocol points missing online led to the publish fix above.
Keep the questions coming. Most of this list started as one.
