Anonymizer

Anonymize replaces or removes identifying information in an Equipe show. It also changes competition details and payment data. These changes are destructive and cannot be undone by this extension. This can be useful when preparing a show for training without exposing real participant, horse, or payment data. Anonymize the show, then create a copy for training.

Add it to your show

  1. Open your show in app.equipe.com.
  2. Go to Settings and choose the Extensions tab.
  3. Search for “Anonymizer” and choose it.
  4. Save. Its buttons show up in the Extensions menu of the show.

Availability

The extension is available only to users with the Owner role, when People is selected in Equipe, and for playground shows. If the show is not a playground, the extension stops without making changes.

What this extension does

Anonymize replaces or removes identifying information in an Equipe show. It also changes competition details and payment data. These changes are destructive and cannot be undone by this extension.

This can be useful when preparing a show for training without exposing real participant, horse, or payment data. Anonymize the show, then create a copy for training.

Before you start

  • Verify that you opened the correct show.
  • Review the options before submitting. Anonymize immediately writes changes to Equipe.
  • After processing, create a copy of the show. This prevents earlier data from being viewed or restored with the rewind history function in that copy.

Anonymize a show

  1. Choose what to do with results:
    • Delete results is selected by default. It clears jumping and dressage results.
    • Keep results preserves the results but replaces dressage judge remarks with anonymous placeholder text.
  2. Select the result handling and, optionally, Delete empty lists and competitions. These controls share one row on wider screens and stack on small screens. Only empty lists and competitions are deleted.
  3. Type the show name exactly as displayed in the confirmation prompt. Matching is case-insensitive, and leading or trailing spaces are ignored.
  4. The information stays visible while the options and confirmation field scroll. Click Anonymize in the separate action area below them. The button stays above the footer, does not cover the fields, and is enabled only when the confirmation name matches.

What is changed

  • People: names are replaced with generic names. Contact details, national IDs, passport and FEI IDs, bank details, invoice details, and custom fields are cleared. Non-empty personal notes are replaced with generic notes. Personal numbers recognized as birth dates are shifted within the same calendar year; non-empty licence numbers are randomized.
  • Horses: names and selected pedigree names are replaced. Owner, breeder, FEI and external identifiers are cleared; chip and licence numbers are randomized. Non-empty notes are replaced with generic notes, and custom fields are cleared.
  • Competitions: headings, arenas, sponsors, entry fees, and prize amounts are randomized. Competition logos are replaced with a generic logo. Dressage judge names are updated to match anonymized officials.
  • Payments: payment lines are deleted for each successfully processed person.
  • Results: the selected results option is applied to jumping and dressage competitions. Keeping results still replaces dressage judge remarks.

The extension reports how many people, horses, and competitions were processed, how many payments or results were deleted, and any record-level errors.

Progress and cancellation

The progress display shows the number of records processed and any errors. During processing, Cancel requests that work stop after the current record. Cancellation does not undo changes that have already completed. Check the final summary and error table; a cancelled or partially failed run can leave the show partially anonymized.

Important

Anonymize is intended for playground shows only. Do not rely on cancellation or the error table to roll back changes. Once processing finishes, create a copy of the show so that previous changes cannot be viewed or restored with rewind history in the copy.

Illustrative screens

These illustrations use example show details and counts. The interface text shown is in English.

Confirmation: review the information, choose result handling and optional deletion of empty lists, then type the show name. The Anonymize button has its own area below the form.

Progress: the bar and status show processed records and estimated time remaining. Cancel stops after the current record and does not undo completed changes.

Summary: check the processed counts and any errors. Create a copy of the show afterward so previous data cannot be viewed or restored through the copy's rewind history.
